I’ve Moved!!!

Yes I know it’s quite an early change – considering I just started this site. But I’ve discovered a wonderful new host site – and I’ve also made the final decision for exactly what I want this professional outlet to look like. What is that you ask? The answer will appear on my new and permanent site very soon. So keep an eye out and be ready. The title should give you a hint. 🙂 *This new site, as you’ll see when you click the link below, has ALL of my posts from here at WordPress. Those posts have not been lost. So when I end my time here at WordPress, all the material is safe on my new site.

To those of you who have subscribed or follow, your attachment means the world to me. I humbly ask for you to come with me, do not forsake me yet. I’m just getting started.

To those of you who have just stopped by, and are not followers of this journey – I ask you to take a chance. You just might see something that not only intrigues you, entertains you, or provokes your thoughts – but you just might benefit from the content as well. I know I hope to.

Anticipating

Admittedly, my posting is lackadaisical and neglected at best these days. Chalk it up to a visit from family, and the absence of down time to process and create anything new.
I’m brainstorming about the permanent direction I wish for this blog to go. It needs focus, commitment of topic, and energy. I have these things, but as a cohesive bond – that’s still in the works. Continue Reading »

I have a question which came to me today, of which I thought would give great discussion amongst some:

What literary character can you most identify with?

I know there can be many answers, for our own personality and character is a mixture of many flavors. Yet, today at least – what do you think? What fictional character can you “get” to great degrees?

I’ll start – Continue Reading »

{*Fair warning: this post’s bigger than any before. Don’t be scared, it won’t take long. You can even tell me what you think at the end. But you’ll have to get to the end first. Enjoy!}

As a writer, I enjoy the word “revise” better than “edit”. This is amusing, considering I’m also actually an editor by trade. That aside, the definition of revise is more congruent with the process itself. Something you’ve created – whatever medium you use to do so – has stages of completion. You begin, you immerse, you complete. These are not isolated activities, nor are they the only steps. They circulate and metamorphose, much like the object of your creation itself. To edit often entails condensing, perhaps some cutting and expunging. I don’t know about you, but these are not attractive words, especially when my own work is involved. As a writer, (help me out fellow writers if you understand me) my projects are like my children. I am tender with them (even if they are not always tender with me!), nurture them, embolden them to be great. At least this is my initial desire. Now, to revise – that is more allowing, more supportive of an act. It’s examining, from every perceivable angle. Trying to see new facets of its possible beauty. It’s a process of expanding, of reshaping, often of growing. Continue Reading »

While you wait

Greetings! As I’m still trying on the shoes of professional blogging, as you wait for a regularly updated site of greatness (which I will deliver), take a peek at the new tab at the top of this blog. “I Recommend” is the name – introduction is the game. I will be updating this page as I come across amazing sites, blogs, portfolios, etc, that I cannot help but bring to your attention.  There are a few to get you started. I have a plethora of more in my head, ready to document. However, I must be off now, you’ve caught me at a busy juncture. I am heading off to hop on the red line for my 2nd Internship meeting. Today: field trip to HubSpot, where we’ll learn from the masters of Inbound Marketing (in fact, they coined the phrase!).

Enjoy your day 🙂

“All of us are watchers — of television, of time clocks, of traffic on the freeway — but few are observers. Everyone is looking, not many are seeing.”
(Peter M. Leschak)

You are lying, flat on your back, on new Spring grass. You are in a park, but you notice no one else around you. There are no streams of cars racing past, there are no phones, no conversations you overhear. You are alone, the air is light with the bliss of silence, and the flavor of simplicity. Your eyes survey the ever-changing sky, unveiling its dance above you. The hues are cobalt and cotton, each accenting the other, in a shared display. The stage is sharply focused, haze is banished from view. Then the ballet begins. Continue Reading »

Thus it begins. Here contains a place where I wish to grow in creativity. This blog is my journey of dreams – of strengthening the art of storytelling and my ability to participate. The written word has enraptured me for my entire life – truly. I cannot tell you a time where I was not hungry for words, stories, memories. Both fiction and non-fiction fascinate me. I inherited my mother’s voracious appetite for books and stories. There are not enough days in a year, nor years in my life where I could read all I want to read. Poets, people both dead and alive, experiences, nature, children, playwrights…anything that involves character and plot and setting — it’s all a wonderful adventure. And I want to share my passion. I want to participate in keeping such a wonderful art alive. Continue Reading »
